Foodie Flights at Disney

Every foodie enjoys flights.  Most newbies relate to the common wine flight.  Others who may have furthered their education with Jancis Robinson’s wine course or who have dabbled into the unknown and out of their comfort zone may have tried other libations.

What is a flight?  A flight is a sample sized tasting comparison of three or more similar libations.  For instance, three red wines may be considered a flight.  You could also have a very specific flight such as a comparison of three red cabernet sauvignon wines from the same vintage year, from three different wineries in the same region.

Disney has them all, from wine flights, to scotch flights, to tequila flights, to even sake wine flights.  If you look hard enough beyond the teacup rides and the family vacation fun spots you will find a refine and sophisticated oasis for adults to indulge and escape from the monotony of Kodak approved picture spots.

Rose and Crown Scotch Flights

Visit the Rose and Crown at Epcot for scotch flights ranging from the single malt flight of: Glenkinchie, Oban, Lagavulin for 15.00 to the Johnnie Walker flight: Black, Gold, Green for 12.00.  Should you dare to continue A la carte they offer the following scotch whiskey 2-oz Pours:

Johnnie Walker Blue 37.00
The Macallan 12 yr 12.00
The Macallan 18 yr 29.00
The Macallan 25 yr 95.00
Lagavulin 16 yr 17.00
Oban 14 yr 17.00
Glenkinchie 12 yr 12.00

San Angel Inn tequila flights

Wanna try some tequila flights?  Head over to the San Angel Inn at the Mexican pavilion where you can dine “with romance under perpetual twilight where Mayan ruins lend an ancient ambiance”.  Here you can experience the San Angel tequila flight:

3 Half ounce shots of: Partida Blanco, Don Julio Reposado and Tres Generaciones Añejo 18.00

If you care to venture on they have an extensive list of tequilas that carry over to their hidden bar under the stairs!

Tokyo Dining and Teppan Edo sake flights

The Japanese pavilion offers two restaurant styles from Teppan-yaki style dining (at Teppan Edo) to a standard dining room style (in Tokyo dining).  Both offer sake flights with three samples from sweet to medium to dry.  I will post details from my next visit with regards to pricing and specifics.
