Did You Know?

Formula Rossa at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi:

Riders must wear safety goggles to experience this heart pounding ride that holds the Guiness book of world records ‘fastest rollercoaster’ at 149mph. The coaster hurls through at record speeds producing 4.8Gs of force! It takes guests only 4.9 seconds to get to the coaster’s top speed with the help of a hydraulic winch system.

2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix

The Glitz and the glam of the Las Vegas strip is even striking for team Ferrari as they take a break to pose under the welcome sign before the big race. Good luck team!

Did You Know?

Here are some of the top landmark / attractions for your trip to Las Vegas, Nevada!

Las Vegas Welcome Sign

Built in 1959 for $4 thousand dollars. This frequent photo-op sign was owned by Western Neon, who was purchased by YESCO who now leases the sign to Clark County. With Vegas reaching over 40 Million visitors as of March 2023, you can bet this sign is one of the top spots to visit.

Bellagio Fountains

The fountains of the Bellagio hotel is second best to none on the strip. At a cost of $40 million dollars, the fountain consists of 1,214 water nozzles and 4,792 lights and can reach a height of 460 feet. The lake holds 22 million gallons of water and the fountain is considered one of the most expensive in the world.

The Strat Hotel, Casino & Tower

At 1,149 ft and a cost of $70 million dollars, the Strat Tower (formerly the Stratosphere) is a must see. Considered the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States, this structure also houses some of the most daring thrill seeking rides in Las Vegas. Big Shot, is one of the world’s highest amusement rides. Once seated, guests get shot an additional 160 feet off the top of the high deck of the tower at 45mph. Generating 4Gs, you feel like you are being launched into space (it was formerly called ‘Space Shot’)! This is quite the site to see in the evenings looking down on all of the Las Vegas city lights.

leave a comment »

Overview

The 7th annual Grand Motoring Film Festival presented by Hilton Head Capital Partners was a huge success.  More than twenty films were featured over two days (Nov. 2/3), represented by filmmakers from across the globe as car-culture films were shown on the big-screen for both the audience and filmmakers, as selected by an esteemed panel of judges.

VIP Party

After admiring the classic and collector cars that were on display, VIP guests were welcomed to a red-carpet reception which included hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. The party was held just prior to the event, allowing film makers to mingle, compare notes, and congratulate each other on their works. A ‘step and repeat / press wall’ was also provided to commemorate the occasion.

Chrysler Turbine Car: Engineering A Revolution

Directed by Conor Kelley

Overview

Starting in the 1950s, Chrysler set out to disrupt the automotive industry with a multimillion-dollar turbine research program. This documentary produced by the Hagerty Drivers Foundation chronicles those efforts and is told from the point of view of the engineers and mechanics that were responsible for the futuristic jet-engine automotive program as well as the historians like Steve Lehto (@stevelehto), Jay Leno (@jaylenosgarage), and Mark Olson (@turbinecar) that have spent decades researching this incredible aspect of American car history.

About Me:

I am a singer, songwriter, and composer, who enjoys life’s journey.  I try to incorporate what I learn into everything I do. Entertainment is a big part of my life, especially music and movies. Each draws me in emotionally and inspires me.  I love to travel to less popular destinations such as Eastern Europe, Russia, Thailand, Japan and French Polynesia to name a few.  I found that many of these places have retained their mystery and some seem untouched by time.

There are many interests that have enriched my life throughout my travels.  One of those interests paired well with building my music network, and that was car culture.  The celebration of cars is always in season in Florida and I was able to take that opportunity and make it my own.  As a host, brand ambassador and news producer for DriveTribe (the largest online automotive community in the world, owned by the original presenters of Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May), I covered lifestyle events around the world and interviewed influential people within those circles, thereby bridging relationships and networks while introducing and branding DriveTribe.  Alas, that was then, for at the beginning of 2022 DriveTribe closed its doors but I continued on under MigzTV retaining all content that I produced while at DriveTribe as well as the relationships it fostered. The coverage grows and the adventures continue! Be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel and ring that bell for updates. As always, I appreciate your support!

Best!

Carlos Sainz speeds through the ancient Mesoamerican city of Teotihuacan just barely avoiding Quetzalcoatl the feathered serpent on his way to a podium finish!

Did You Know?

Teotihuacan, meaning ‘the place where gods were created’ consisted of thousands of single story dwellings as well as pyramids, palaces and more. The city was over 8 square miles designed in a grid like structure and had an estimated population of two hundred thousand at its peak. The main road named ‘the Avenue of the Dead’ connects structures such as the pyramid of the sun (third largest pyramid in the world) as well as the pyramid of the moon and others.

Although it is unknow who built the city of Teotihuacan, it was influenced by many different civilations including the: Totonacs, Mixtecs, Toltecs, Zapotecs, Aztecs and more.

There are those who believe (a nod to Battlestar Galactica and Ancient Alien fans):

2023 Qatar Grand Prix

Charles Leclerc is charged to win the Qatar Grand Prix as he launches across the circuit from the purpose-built, smart city of Lusail.

Did You Know?

Bennato has broken the record with three back to back Scuderia Ferrari covers in 2023! There have been other cover artists that have produced three or more covers in a year (Mastrazzo with 5 in 2017), but never consecutive. Congrats!

Lusail City

Words such as: smart city, sustainable city, e-green city, ecological, energy saving, purposely built, energy efficient, environmentally friendly, smart infrastructure; have all been used to describe Lusail city. Supposedly everything was thought of in the planning of Lusail including the psychology of those working and living there. Included are pedestrian & cycle networks and tunnels, water taxis, light rail, and more. Is this the perfect city of the future? You decide and share in the comments below.

Meet the Artist – Tommaso Bennato CV

Tommaso Bennato is an Italian comic book artist and illustrator of the Naples’s suburb. In 2004 he attended “Scuola Internazionale di Comics” in Rome, where he specialized in foreign comics. He participated in many contests and art shows and earned a grant to go to Japan, to have a stage with the company “TOKYO ANIMATION GAKUIN”. He worked with the publisher “KODANSHA” (Japan) and then with “MARVEL”(USA) on a little story of Hulk, but it was in the Belgian-French comics where he found more space to express his love for drawing and storytelling. He worked with various publishers: CLAIR DE LUNE, NARRATIVES, DELCOURT. During that period he moved to France, and
spent 4 years working on books of historic backgrounds such as “Les Sept Merveilles –
L’étoile tombée sur la terre” e “L’homme de l’année T8 : -44 : L’homme qui voulut venger César”. He
also collaborated with the art studio of N.E.M.O. 360 as a concept artist and character designer for
videogames. Bennato eventually returned to Italy and started work on his own webcomic (written and drawn by him) called “Inarime”, published online via Webtoon by Naver Corp (Korea). Bennato also worked as the Art Director and Designer of 3D statues for “Caronte Studios”. Currently, he is working on “ La Couronne de Verre” with the publisher Editions Delcourt.

Ferrari welcomes back Scuderia Ferrari cover artist, Tommaso Bennato

About the “Art of Formula 1” Series

First published in 2017, this series is dedicated to Scuderia Ferrari’s F1 Grand Prix cover art and the artists behind the work. It includes my interpretation of the cover, insights (did you know?) into a nugget of information about the grand prix location, some words from Ferrari (track info. etc.), informational links to artist’s sites, and other Art of Formula 1 series works.

Northern Remote Wilderness Adventure

leave a comment »

Over the years I have traveled and experienced many things that I never dreamed that I would, from being a U.S. ambassador to the U.S.S.R. during the cold war, to traveling to the remote Islands of French Polynesia, diving with bull sharks off of the Bat Islands of Costa Rica, to listening to the music of gypsy camps in the middle of the night atop the Carpathian mountains of Romania and much much more.

My current adventure is to the northern remote wilderness aboard Explora I, the first ship of the new luxury ocean experience, Explora Journeys. My travels will take me from Scotland up through the North Atlantic to the edge of the North Sea across the Artic circle above northern Iceland into Greenland, Canada and to New York City. I will cover my adventures through photos, video and journals. These adventures will further inspire my creativity across all platforms and mediums as well as influence my future adventures.
